Every data-driven decision starts with the right hire.

A wrong data hire rarely announces itself. An incorrect dashboard figure or a drifting model can shape decisions for months before anyone traces the problem back to its source. Under the AVG and the EU AI Act, it can create compliance exposure too.

The broader ICT market has eased, but the people who can build, run and evaluate data and AI systems are still in demand. Job titles rarely make the distinction clear.

Data & Analytics Recruitment That Delivers

From our Netherlands Leadership team.

Data & Analytics <b>Recruitment That Delivers

Our consultants each specialise in one area of the technology market rather than taking a generalist approach, across multiple specialisms. In data and analytics, that means keeping our market knowledge current every day, tracking how platforms such as Microsoft Fabric and Databricks are reshaping teams, how new roles like MLOps and AI engineering are defined, and how pay is moving. With us, conversations about your brief start from a shared understanding of the work and up-to-date market intelligence. Then at Head of Data and Chief Data Officer level, our expertise extends into executive search, where leadership and organisational influence matter as much as technical background.

We recognise data professionals shape the decisions a business makes every day, and the strongest hires add value well beyond their job description, so we look at the whole picture when assessing candidates.

Technical capability is the foundation, whether that’s SQL, Python, modelling or experience with the platforms your environment runs on. Alongside it, we explore the qualities that make a data professional trusted across a business:

  • the care they take to validate data before it informs a decision
  • the confidence to raise a question when a number doesn’t look right
  • the ability to explain what a model can and can’t tell the people relying on it

Every candidate we put forward has been screened by a consultant who knows this market well, looking beyond job titles and certifications. For urgent requirements, we can fill roles within two days. Our typical fill rates are 96% through exclusive partnerships and 77% in a preferred supplier capacity.

We support recruitment across the full range of data and analytics specialisms, connecting organisations with the people who turn data into value:

  • Data Analysts - SQL and Python-driven reporting, dashboards and ad hoc business analysis.
  • Data Scientists - statistical modelling and machine learning applied to a specific business problem.
  • AI Engineers - building and integrating AI and large language model capability into a business's own products and workflows.
  • Data Engineers - the pipelines and infrastructure that move and prepare data for everyone downstream.
  • MLOps & Machine Learning Engineers - taking a model from a notebook into a production system that runs smoothly.
  • Business Intelligence Developers & Analysts - reporting layers, data visualisation and self-service analytic.
  • Data Architects - the data model and governance framework the rest of the function is built on.
  • Power Platform Developers - low-code apps, automated workflows and Dataverse solutions built on Microsoft's Power Platform.
  • Analytics Consultants - embedded analytics support for a specific team, project or business function.
  • Heads of Data & Chief Data Officers - strategic ownership of the data function, usually an executive search brief rather than a standard hire.

We support organisations building data capability in-house, from first hires and 0-1 hiring to enterprise data estates and teams mid-migration:

First hires: we help you shape the role that delivers value earliest.

Scaling teams: we find people who strengthen your structure, standards and culture.

Migrations: we prioritise platform experience and the ability to bridge old and new systems.

For roles with strong network coverage, we typically shortlist within days. We’ll share realistic timeframes for niche and senior roles from the start. See our permanent recruitment and contract hiring pages for more detail.

We recruit data and analytics professionals for:

  • Fintech: fraud, transaction monitoring and AML analytics, with DORA experience increasingly valued.
  • Insurtech: pricing and claims models, where EU AI Act requirements for some insurance AI make MLOps and governance experience especially relevant.
  • Greentech: energy transition data, from smart meters to grid forecasting.
  • Transport and logistics: supply chain visibility, route optimisation and capacity planning.
  • Consultancies, system integrators and detacheringsbureaus: data and AI specialists for client delivery.

Data & Analytics Market intelligence

Shared by our Country Director, Jo Callaghan.

Data & Analytics <b> Market intelligence </b>

According to market data, the Netherlands aims to have 1 million ICT professionals by 2030, but intake into IT higher education fell in 2026, with 438 fewer new students starting IT programmes. Technical programmes have held steady largely thanks to international students, making international talent an important part of the Dutch data market.

Degrees provide strong foundations. Production engineering, pipeline reliability and governance experience typically come from working in live environments, and those skills underpin the fastest-growing roles in MLOps, AI and senior data engineering.

The result is that experienced data professionals are often already in work and not actively applying. Our consultants build long-standing relationships across the market to connect you with them.

As AI adoption grows and organisations invest in stronger data foundations, demand for experienced data professionals continues to shape pay across the Dutch market. Production and platform skills, such as MLOps, data engineering and AI integration, are increasingly valued alongside analysis and modelling. Experience in sectors such as fintech and insurtech, where data governance carries weight, can also influence where a candidate sits within a range. The figures below give an indicative view of permanent salaries and interim hourly rates.

  • Data Analyst: €29,000 to €49,000 (junior), €49,000 to €88,000 (senior)
  • Data Scientist: €36,000 to €84,000
  • Data Engineer: €40,000 to €81,000
  • Machine Learning Engineer: €36,000 to €73,000

Interim data analysts average around €94 per hour (excluding VAT). Senior AI and ML roles at large technology employers can result in higher per hour rates due to the current competitivity of the market.

AI is changing how people use data. Tools such as Databricks Genie, Snowflake Cortex Analyst and Copilot in Microsoft Fabric let business users ask questions in plain language and get answers directly, so dashboards people read are increasingly sitting alongside systems people ask.

These tools work best on a well-designed semantic layer: a business model of what the data means. Organisations that invested in data quality and governance are seeing the most value. In the Netherlands, the AVG and the EU AI Act’s data governance requirements for high-risk AI make that foundation important for compliance too.

As a result, data roles are broadening, alongside building pipelines and models, organisations increasingly should value people who can:

  • design and maintain the semantic layer an AI assistant relies on
  • document data lineage clearly
  • recognise when an AI-generated answer needs a second look, and explain why

These skills grow through experience, and our consultants explore them in depth when assessing candidates for your team.
