The Freelance Java developer role supports the delivery of high-impact digital solutions within an Agile software development team in Brussels. The role contributes across the software development lifecycle, from analysis and design through to development, testing and integration.
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Java development
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices architecture and cloud development
- Excellent understanding of operating systems, networking, databases, middleware and software architecture principles
- Knowledge of development standards, tools and security practices

Role Overview
The developer will work in a collaborative Scrum environment alongside developers, analysts, testers and architects. The team delivers valuable software increments at the end of each sprint while supporting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. The working model is hybrid, with 50% onsite and 50% remote work in Brussels.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications using Spring Boot
- Design and implement cloud-native microservices
- Build, test and deploy applications in containerised environments
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, developers, testers and architects
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning activities
- Contribute to software quality, security and performance improvements
- Support continuous integration and deployment practices
- Share knowledge and drive best practices within the squad
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Java development
- English is mandatory
- French at professional working proficiency
- Availability to work in a hybrid setup, with 50% onsite and 50% remote work in Brussels
