Tech Lead (PHP) – doorgroei naar development manager
Our client develops software tailored for the social sector, supporting organizations such as wellbeing services, community teams, and similar agencies that work closely with clients and project pathways. Their platform is central to daily operations, enabling users to document guidance processes, activities, reports, and outcomes. The role involves shaping the technical direction of a new, locally-based team that is replacing an existing nearshore group. Working with an AI-first development approach, the Tech Lead will partly contribute to building the system used daily by clients, while also helping to grow and lead the development team. This is an important position driving the transition towards a more integrated, AI-driven development process, and offers a clear progression path toward CTO leadership.
Role Overview:
The Tech Lead will guide the technical strategy, contribute hands-on development, assist with staffing, and ensure the team functions effectively. You will work closely with non-technical stakeholders, explaining technical concepts clearly, and have opportunities to work with innovative AI development practices. The role is designed for someone motivated to grow into a CTO position.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Senior PHP experience with frameworks, Laravel is a plus
• At least 1 year of team leadership experience (managing 2 or more developers)
• Strong understanding of system architecture and decision-making
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and non-technical stakeholders
• Open to AI in development and interested in working with AI-driven processes
• Ambition to advance toward CTO
Key Responsibilities:
• Define and execute the technical direction of the team and project
• Actively contribute to development work
• Assist with recruiting and building the development team
• Ensure the team operates smoothly and effectively
• Work within an AI-first development environment and adapt to new technologies
• Occasionally liaise with clients to clarify requirements and explain solutions
Requirements:
• Right to work in the region
• Experience leading a development team of 2 or more members
• Knowledge of PHP frameworks; Laravel experience is advantageous
• Willingness to work on-site in Den Bosch
• Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical audiences
• Practical 40 hours per week, with a hybrid working pattern
Nice to Have (Optional):
• Experience in or openness to AI development processes
• Leadership experience with growth potential toward CTO
